Here at Wentz Stables we believe that riding horses is much more than just another activity - its one of the best ways to teach important life lessons such a hard work, patience, confidence, all through the student's passion for the sport. Whether it starts from a young child's love for animals or an adult's life long dream of having their own horse, we can help you realize your goals. We like to say that horses raise great kids! They also bring out the best in our adult students as well!

You will receive quality instruction in a fun & friendly environment. All of our riding lessons are focused on learning good horsemanship, proper position with a focus on safety. All lessons are taught by an experienced, knowledgable member of our staff, including a USEF Licensed Judge.  You can get to know our instructors, Tara Wentz-Goosley, Kirby Tapper & Tiana Tapper, by reading their biographies on the Meet Our Team page. All beginner lessons are private with group lesson available for more experienced riders. Lessons are approximatley 30 minutess of active riding time along with up to 30 minutes of grooming and tacking up/untacking ground work.

What to wear for your lesson? First time riders can come to their introductory lesson in long pants and a hard soled shoe. Students wishing to continue should have proper riding boots by 2nd lesson. We recommend paddock style leather riding boots. Helmets are highly recommended and required for beginner children - we recommend a proper horseback riding helmet not a bike helmet. Riding pants should have ultrasuede knee patches for a comfortable grip with the saddle. Gloves designed specifically for riding (leather or other types of non-slippery, thin material gloves) are helpful for creating a better grip on the reins, practicing for horse shows & keeping hands warm during winter months. Please see the sidebar for helpful links to find these items.
